Welcome to the Applied NanoPhysics Laboratory at SRM Institute of Science and Technology Kattankulathur, Chennai. Applied NanoPhysics Laboratory’s focuses on development of functional nanomaterials and modifying their band structure and surfaces for energy, environment and health. SRM Institute of Science and Technology (formerly SRM University), is a deemed university located in Kattankulathur, Tamil Nadu, near Chennai, India. SRMIST has been recently accredited with the highest grade A++ by NAAC. SRMIST with 50000 plus students and 3200+ faculty members offers programs in the disciplines of Engineering, Science, Humanities, Medicine etc.

We are discovering new semiconductors materials capable of absorbing a significant portion of the solar spectrum.

We are discovering new material for air filter and N95 face mask, specifically polymer nanofiber with antibacterial and antiviral properties.

We are controlling the band structure of semiconductors to control chemical reactivity and to improve the energy-conversion efficiency.

We are located in the Sir C.V. Raman Research Park, Second floor, Laboratory RRP-209.

OUR RECENT INNOVATION

It is a cruel reality that the air we breathe has become an invisible but leading danger in terms of public health and the environment. Most present development air filter are non-transparent not suitable for window and single functional. Also the currently available air filter media used in filtration can only filter PM does not interact with other VOCs or NH3 because of lack of functional groups.
 

We solved the issues and designed a switch-based air filter, which is highly transparent, efficient PM removal and low air resistance. Our filter membrane exhibits multifunctional properties like highantibacterial activity, ammonia and formaldehyde adsorption.
